Two-page, recto and verso, autograph letter signed “S.A. Douglas”, undated, in part:
My Dear Sir
Permit me to introduce to you Mr. Eldery of [Baltimore?] & comes to me with a letter from our esteemed friend. The letter of Mr. George Douglas [?] his business and I therefore enclose it. Mr. George Douglas is a gentleman of great moral worth & upright of character. His endorsement is conclusive with all who know him. Will you do me the favor to give your personal attention to this case of Mr. Eldery and under his [?] as is connected with the public interest. If you can restore him to his proper position I should be gratified.
In very good condition, several ink blotches, folds.
