During President Kennedy's term, the Joint Chiefs of Staff were led by General Lyman L. Lemnitzer as Chairman. Other members included Admiral George W. Anderson Jr., as Chief of Naval Operations, and General Curtis E. LeMay as Chief of Staff of the Air Force. General David M. Shoup was the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and General George H. Decker was Chief of Staff of the Army. This photo would date from January 1961-October 1962 at the latest.
We believe this image was taken in the Summer of 1962, just prior to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
This photo originated from the estate of General Godfrey McHugh who was a United States Air Force General who served as military aide to JFK.
