Jacqueline Kennedy 1964 Typed Letter Signed - "President Kennedy Would Have Been So Proud"
Typed letter signed “Jacqueline Kennedy”, personal coat of arms stationery, November 18, 1964, to Brian Sternberg in Seattle, Washington, in full:
Your letter was extremely touching and I wanted you to know how deeply I appreciate your thoughtful message and the lovely gift of the Testament of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
President Kennedy would have been so proud of your letter and of the courage and perseverance you displayed in typing and signing it yourself under such difficult circumstances. It is such a wonderful tribute to him — and one which means so very much to me.
Presented further authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA with the original mailing envelope affixed to the verso.
Brian Sternberg was a world record holder in the men's pole vault who was paralyzed from the neck down after a trampoline accident in 1963. He lived until he was 69 and Sternberg's unusually long life as a quadriplegic was credited, in part, to his athletic training and to a positive attitude.
