Dallas nightclub owner (1911–1967) who attained infamy for shooting and killing Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, two days after Oswald was arrested for the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Silver Spur business check, 8 x 3, appears to be filled out in Ruby’s own hand and signed by Ruby, payable to “Clarence Talley Auto Co.” for $1,740.84, April 13, 1951. Noted under his signature “Purchase Olds ‘98’”.

History notes that Ruby drove a 1960 Oldsmobile at the time he shot in Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963.

In 1947 Ruby moved to Dallas to help run the Singapore Supper Club (later called the Silver Spur Club), which was owned by one of his sisters. That same year he also legally changed his name from Jacob Rubenstein to Jack L. Ruby. Silver Spur checks are much less common than other Ruby checks.
