Herbert Hoover 1930 Typed Letter Signed as President - Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Norway

$650.00

31st President. Typed letter signed “Herbert Hoover” AS PRESIDENT, May 27, 1930, The White House Washington stationery, to Hans Olav as Managing Editor of The Nordiak Tidende, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Norway’s independence, in full:

I am glad to express through the Nordisk Tidende to all Americans of Norwegian origin my congratulations upon their celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the independent life of the land of their origin and my deep appreciation of the contribution made by the Norwegian people to the life and thought and progress of this country.

The dissolution of the union between the Kingdoms of Norway and Sweden took place on June 7, 1905.  Following several months of tensions and fear of war between the two nations, negotiations led to Sweden’s recognition of Norway as an independent country.  Absolutely wonderful content from a sitting U.S. President celebrating the independence of an allied nation.

In fine condition with minor soiling, small tear to the bottom right corner, attached to a slightly larger sheet of paper.
