I am deeply saddened by the loss of your son, Lance Corporal Marcus M. Cherry, USMC.
Marcus’ noble service in Operation Iraqi Freedom has helped to preserve the security of our homeland and the freedom America holds dear. Our Nation will not forget Marcus’ sacrifice and unselfish dedication in our efforts to make the world more peaceful and more free. We will forever honor his memory.
Laura and I send our heartfelt sympathy. We hope you will be comforted by your faith and the love and support of your family and friends. May God bless you.

April 2004 was a particularly deadly month for Americans in Iraq. Lance Corporal Cherry was just 18-years-old and had arrived in Iraq just 3 weeks prior to his death. He was killed by ambush fire in Al Anbar province.
