Dwight D. Eisenhower World War II Autograph Letter Signed to His Wife

$1,450.00

34th President. Autograph letter signed “Always your / Ike”, addressed to his wife Mamie as “Darling:” May 1 [1945], in full:

Yesterday I received a letter from Arthur, which said that due to increased expenses at home each of us should increase our monthly allotment to $15.00. Naturally, I assured him you would do so at once. Enclosed is a copy of the letter I wrote.

This morning a teletype came from you. Also a note (about 10 lines) from Johnny. He doesn’t waste a lot of time writing to anyone, I suppose.

This must be a short note. The head of the Red Cross is waiting to see me - he is soon to go home. I’ll write again as soon as I can - perhaps this evening. Loads of love.

The paper has even browning / burn from prior matting and framing yet the original lined paper can be discerned at bottom.

Provenance: Kenneth Rendell Inc. with their original description and COA.

Although no year is written, we can deduce that this letter is from 1945.
