Calvin Coolidge 1920 Typed Letter Signed as Governor of Massachusetts - "A Stronger and More Glorious America"

$1,250.00

30th President.  Two-page typed letter signed "Calvin Coolidge" as Governor of Massachusetts, August 9, 1920, "The Commonwealth of Massachusetts / Executive Department / State House, Boston" letterhead, 8.5x11, to "Dr. C.C. Lull, Chairman / 35th Division Reunion / Topeka,
Kansas", in full:

Your favor of recent date advising me of the reunion of the 35th Division and inviting me to be present is received.  I very much regret that I am unable to leave Massachusetts at this time.  It is a patriotic purpose that inspires the reunions of those who served their country in the late war.
The lessons that it taught must be reiterated.  The first of these is patriotism.  The defense of our country and its institutions, which is the cause of righteousness among men, must always be the supreme choice of our citizens.  The second is that our nation is a world power, not living unto itself alone, but able and willing to do its part in bearing the burden of civilization and realizing that therein there is a broader and deeper Americanism, a stronger and more glorious America.  I congratulate you on your determination to maintain these ideals and express to you the appreciation that I feel as one of your fellow countrymen for your services and your sacrifices.  You have secured a place in the history of your country and in the hearts of your countrymen that will remain forever.

In very good condition, toning, folds.

Simply a spectacular content letter from Coolidge - among the best we have ever seen.
