26th President. Two-page autograph letter signed (ALS) “Theodore Roosevelt” as Governor of NY, March 15 [1899], 4×6 page opened to 8×6 (writing on 1st and 3rd pages), “689 Mad. Ave, N.Y.”, to Edwin Packard in Brooklyn, in full:

I will be at 341 Henry St. at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening; how far is it from the Bridge?  I can get a cab [?] I suppose?

It will be a convenience to me to get away as early as possible.

Accompanied by original mailing envelope addressed in Roosevelt’s hand, with the postmark giving the apparent year as 1899.
