33rd President. Two-volume hardcover set of Truman’s Memoirs [Years of Decisions and Years of Trial and Hope], signed, inscribed and dated on the half-title page of Volume One: “To Hon. J. Allen Frear, Jr., with kindest regards from Harry S. Truman 2/21/58”.
In overall fine condition, with light edgewear and toning; dust jackets sunned and lightly soiled, with some chips to edges. The books are from different printings as Volume 2 is noted as part of the “Kansas City Edition.” Volume 1 is noted as a first edition.
Joseph Allen Frear, Jr. (March 7, 1903 – January 15, 1993) was an American businessman and politician. A Democrat, he served as a United States Senator from Delaware from 1949 to 1961.
