25th President.  Typed letter signed “Wm. McKinley”, May 19, 1896, personal Canton, Ohio stationery, to Henry Stoddard, in full:

I have seen the copy of the Mail and Express containing your article and am very grateful for the many kind things you say.

McKinley has marked the letter “Personal” at top left.

Accompanied by original mailing envelope.

In very good condition, mailing folds.  Huge signature.

McKinley would become President the following year, so the article he references probably concerned his campaign.

Uncommon format for McKinley.

Henry L. Stoddard was as a journalist in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., before becoming editor and part owner of the New York Evening Mail.
