American inventor (1847-1931); invented or perfected many of the 20th century’s most ubiquitous devices, including the light bulb, the phonograph, and moving pictures.

Signature “Thomas A. Edison” on 5.5×3.5 Union Postal Universal “Union Postal Universalle / (Espana)” postcard.

Edison has penned his first name in full as part of his dark, bold signature measuring 3″ long with his famous “umbrella” measuring an incredilbe 3.75″ long.

The card is imprinted along the left edge in red “Festival de la Caridad en Cadiz” (Festival of Charity in Cadiz) on both sides.  There is a 1.5″ diameter red stamping on verso:  “Comision Organizadora de la Exposicion de Tarjetas Postales a beneficio de los pobres” (Organizing Committee for the Exhibition of Postcards to benefit the poor).

In very fine condition, spots of toning, apparent erasing beneath signature.
