Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Rhode Island (1707–1785) and a delegate to the Continental Congress.

Manuscript document signed “Step Hopkins Govn”, one page, 4 x 6.25, September 30, 1755. A pay order in the amount of over four pounds sixteen shillings issued to Thomas Vernon, postmaster at Newport, for the postage of letters.

Signature appears to have been removed from the document at one time and then re-affixed.  Silked.  Priced accordingly.

This autograph was originally part of one of the esteemed limited edition sets of American Statesmen.
