37th President.  Typed letter signed (TLS) “Dick” AS PRESIDENT, May 23, 1969, 6.75×9, White House stationery.  While the United States was in the throes of Vietnam, Nixon writes to Warren Knowles, Governor of Wisconsin:

I want to thank you for your thoughtful comments about my report to the American people on the prospects for peace in Vietnam. I am glad to know of your support, and I greatly appreciated your generous and encouraging message.
