37th President.  Typed letter signed  “RN” AS PRESIDENT, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, July 29, 1971. Letter to Ward L. Quaal, president of the WGN Continental Broadcasting Company, in full:

Your support for our continuing efforts to seek a new relationship with the People’s Republic of China means a great deal to me, and I want to thank you for your kind letter.  The step I announced on July 15 reflects my firm belief that all the nations of the world will benefit from a reduction of tensions between our two countries.  It is especially good to know you share my hope that this forthcoming visit will contribute to the stable and enduring peace we so earnestly seek.
