41st President. Typed letter signed (TLS) “George” AS PRESIDENT, March 2, 1992, 6.75×9, The White House Washington stationery, to Congressman Bill Young, in full:
Your letter of February 26 was sitting on my desk upon my return to Washington, and I am asking that it be properly reviewed. I am glad you wrote.
We are working hard and looking forward to March 10.
Warmest best wishes and thanks again for your letter.
March 10, 1992 was Super Tuesday. After losing earlier primaries, Democrat Bill Clinton emerged as a candidate “back from the dead” when he convincingly won a number of Southern primaries on Super Tuesday. Clinton ultimately went on to win the Democratic nomination and the presidency. Bush won all eight Republican primaries by rolling over conservative commentator Patrick Buchanan and former Klansman David Duke of Louisiana.
