32nd President.  Typed letter signed (TLS) “Franklin D. Roosevelt” AS PRESIDENT, August 30, 1944, The White House stationery, 7×9, to C.M. Meredith of the Bangor Daily News in Bangor, Pennsylvania, in full:

I send the Bangor Daily News my hearty congratulations on its fiftieth birthday.  I know of the paper’s excellent past record of service in your community and I am sure that, under your guidance in the future, it will continue to deserve the confidence of the public.

In very good condition, even age toning/browning, light staining.

FDR had a busy day at the White House on August 30, 1944 as he began the day by with a presentation of Congressional Medal of Honor to 6 members of Armed Service -Tech. Sgt. Forrest L. Vosler (USA), Staff Sgt. Jesse R. Drowley (USA), 2nd Lt. Arnold Bjorklund (USA), Pvt. F. C. William J. Johnston (USA), 1st Lt. John V. Power (USMC posthumous), 1st Lt. William D. Hawkins (USMC posthumous).
