Outstanding matte-finish 13×10.5 (sight) photo of Nimitz signing the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, signed and inscribed in the lower border in black, “To Sister M. Madelaine, O.P. and the Faculty and Students of St. Angela’s School- with best wishes- C.W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, U.S.N.”

The picture was presented to the school on behalf of Nimitz’s daughter who was a nun working at the school at the time. Nimitz was one of the major architects of victory in the Pacific War during World War II and was the first of the Allied delegation to sign the Instruments of Surrender under the direction of General Douglass MacArthur after it was signed by the representatives of Japan on board the USS Missouri.

Presented in original black frame with some wear.  Beautiful autographed image.
