16th President.  Partially printed document signed (DS) “Abraham Lincoln” AS PRESIDENT, 17.75×11.5, Washington, July 16, 1861, countersigned by William H. Seward as Secretary of State, appointing “Charles R. McFadden…by and with the advice and consent of the Senate…Deputy Postmaster at Waterville, in the State of Maine…And to have and to hold the said Office…for the term of four years…‘” Blind stamped Seal of the United States in the lower left.

Folds, upper right corner with small chip; one small chip on left edge.  Ghosting from the seal over Lincoln’s signature, which remains exceptionally bold and bright.

Fine Lincoln autograph on an impressive document.
