This book recounts the first three attempts on Mount Everest in 1921, 1922, and 1924. Noel also relates his travels in disguise in Tibet in 1913 during an attempt to reach Everest. Noel describes the disappearance of Mallory & Irvine, himself being a witness on the scene. Noel was the chief photographer on the 1922 & 1924 expeditions.
