Sir Edmund Hillary Typed Letter Signed – Mount Everest Content

Out of stock

Sir Edmund Hillary was the first man, in 1953, to climb Mount Everest.  He was one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century.

Typed letter signed (TLS) “Ed Hillary”, August 14, 1991, sent from his home in New Zealand on “Himalayan Trust” stationery, 8.25×11.75, to noted mountaineering author/editor Peter Gillman, in full:

Before agreeing to write a short forward to your anthology of Everest pictures and writing it would be helpful if you could give me some details of the topics you plan to cover.  Is it the old historical stuff?  Or many the sagas of more recent years like Northeast ridge or the Russian success?  Or both?  Or a bit of both?

Perhaps it would be easiest to Fax me a bit of information.  My Fax number is 64-9-520-7847.

Hillary would go on to contribute the forward to “Everest:  The Best Writing and Pictures From Seventy Years Of Human Endeavour” which was edited by Gillman.

Horizontal mailing folds, else fine.
