Philatelic envelope signed by the crew of Discover 41-D: “Judy Resnik”, “Hank Hartsfield”, “Mike Mullane”, “Mike Coats”, “Steven A. Hawley” and “Charles Walker”. Space Cover bearing 20-cent Olympics stamp postmarked September 5, 1984 in Greenbelt, Maryland.
Three satellites were deployed during 41-D, Discovery‘s first flight, launched on August 30, 1984: Satellite Business System SBS-D, SYNCOM IV-2 (also known as LEASAT 2) and TELSTAR. JUDY RESNIK (1949-1986) perished with her six colleagues in the 1986 Challenger explosion.
