I do not know why I have not previously seen your letter of several days ago. I think you and I have discussed the matter covered therein since you wrote me.
I am taking the liberty, however, of directly calling the attention of the Secretary of the Navy to the proposal of your brother. Please know that I am always anxious to be considerate of that which promises to be helpful to the government and I am also happy to be considerate of those who were so helpful to me in the recent campaign.

Harding was just two months into his term and clearly still grateful to those who helped elect him.
