26th President. Typed letter signed “Theodore Roosevelt” AS PRESIDENT, June 5, 1906, White House Washington stationery, to Cornelius Bliss, who served as Secretary of the Interior under President McKinley, marked “Personal” at top, in full:
I shall carefully look over that matter, but I do not think it would do to appoint a Westchester County man. It would be an awful blow to Herbert Parsons and some of our other people in New York.
In very good condition, mailing fold, mounting remnants on verso of second leaf. Attractive autograph.
Hebert Parsons was a Republican Congressman from New York.
