Cortelyou will want to name the men for those places himself, and I shall have to turn that matter over to him. I shall send the Senator’s letter to him.

George Cortelyou was serving as the Chairman of the Republican National Committee at the time of this letter. He had served as the first Secretary of Commerce and Labor from February 18, 1903 through June 30, 1904. He would serve as Postmaster General from March 6, 1905 through January 14, 1907. He would serve as Secretary of State from March 4, 1907 through March 7, 1909.
