Product Description

40th President.

Bank of America check filled out and signed “Ronald Reagan”, 5.75×2.5, October 28, 1948.  Drawn on his account at the “Sunset Clark Branch”, payable to “The Jockey Club” for $10.00. Reagan has noted it to be “(Registration Fee)”.

Ronald Reagan owned horses. Thoroughbred foals are registered with The Jockey Club, founded in 1894. In his first real western, the 1951 Paramount picture The Last Outpost, Reagan was permitted by the producers to ride his own horse, Tarbaby. “Twas a proud moment for her owner,” Reagan later said.

Red pencil “B” (unknown hand) touches the “an” in Reagan. Show-through of stamped bank endorsements on verso, not at signature. Cancellation holes not at signature.
