Revered baseball player and manager, the first start player for the California Angels, he also played for the New York Mets, Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He managed four teams: California Angels, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays.
Four-page “Uniform Player’s Contract / The American League Of Professional Baseball Clubs” between the “Texas Rangers, Inc.” and “James Louis Fregosi” paying him $64,000 for the 1974 Major League season. Signed by Fregosi, General Manager Dan O’Brien and Hall of Famer Lee MacPhail as American League President. Dated February 9, 1974, the contract lists Fregosi’s address as being in Anaheim, California and also lists his Social Security number.
