Partially printed document signed (DS) “James Monroe” AS PRESIDENT, February 3, 1824, countersigned by George Graham as Commissioner of the General Land Office, 15×9.5, headed “The United States of America”, granting “Charles Little of Livingston County New York” 79 acres “in the District of Detroit and Territory of Michigan”.  Seal at lower left, with some wear.

Attractive Presidential signature.

Vellum in good condition, heavy folds.

Charles Little (d. 1842) was a physician who practiced in Livingston County, NY, until he settled in the Michigan Territory in the 1820s, where he and his descendants developed various areas in the Saginaw Valley including much of what has become the East Side of the present-day city of Saginaw.
