31st President. Typed letter signed “Herbert Hoover” AS PRESIDENT, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, July 16, 1932. Letter to Hon. Herman Bernstein, minister to Albania, in full:
I have your kind letter of July 1st.
I do not expect to be making any appointment to Czechoslovakia until the next session of Congress, first because the Minister could not draw any salary until confirmed, and second because with reduced appropriations we are saving every penny we can for the moment.
I hope you are well and that things are proceeding in the usual satisfactory way where you have the management of them.
In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
Amidst the Great Depression, President Hoover tries to save every penny he can!
