33rd President. Typed letter signed “Harry S. Truman”, 7.25×10.5, December 27, 1955, personal “Federal Reserve Bank Building / Kansas City 6, Missouri” stationery, to Dean Acheson, his former Secretary of State, in full:
The ‘Boss’ and I certainly did appreciate those beautiful gladioli which you and Alice sent us for Christmas. We placed them right under Winston Churchill’s picture of Marrakech, so that everyone who came in could see them.
I hope you and Alice had a wonderful Christmas.
Nicely double-matted with an image of Truman to an overall size of 22 x 14.
Fantastic association letter from the former President to a former Cabinet official, with the rare mention of Winston Churchill.
This letter was published in “Affection and Trust. The Personal Correspondence of Harry Truman & Dean Acheson.”
