It was thoughtful of you to write to me.  Your kind assurances are indeed helpful as I go on with the new tasks ahead.  Many thanks.

Accompanied by original White House mailing envelope.  Some creasing and age wear, else fine.

Truman has become President less than a month earlier upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Just 4 days after sending this letter, President Truman officially announced the surrender of Germany from the White House Radio Room on May 8, 1945, signaling the end of World War II.
