22nd and 24th President.  Partly-printed vellum document signed (DS) “Grover Cleveland” AS PRESIDENT, 15.5×19, October 31, 1886. President Cleveland appoints Harry Knox as “Commander in the Navy from the 1st day of October 1896 in the service of the United States.” Signed at the conclusion by President Cleveland and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Hilary A. Herbert. The crisply embossed blue seal affixed to the lower center remains intact at the bottom left.

In excellent condition, with expected folds to vellum.  Attractive format with a wonderful autograph.
