32nd President.  Typed letter signed (TLS) “Franklin D. Roosevelt” AS PRESIDENT, one page, 7×9, The White House Washington letterhead, November 17, 1936, to Matthew Woll at the American Federation of Labor Building, in full:

I do want you to know how glad I was to get your letter of November tenth.  I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness in writing as you did, and it is heartening to know that I can depend upon your continued support.

FDR was re-elected President on November 3, 1936, defeating Alf Landon in the election.

Matthew Woll, a staunch Republican, was president of the International Photo-Engravers Union of North America from 1906 to 1929, an American Federation of Labor (AFL) vice president from 1919 to 1955 and an AFL-CIO vice president from 1955 to 1956.
