30th President. Typed letter signed (TLS) “Calvin Coolidge” AS PRESIDENT, August 11, 1927, The White House Washington stationery, but sent from Rapid City, South Dakota, in full:
Thank you very much for your kind and cordial letter of the 6th. It was good of you to invite us to stop with you at your ranch, but unfortunately I can not see any way in which a visit to you at the Yellowstone Park can be arranged. We were very glad to have your son and his friend visit us on their way out.
In very good condition, bold signature, mailing folds, mounting remnants to verso of 2nd leaf.
President Coolidge spent the summer of 1927 in the Black Hills of South Dakota, establishing a Summer White House in Rapid City. Just 9 days earlier, while in South Dakota, Coolidge announced that he would not seek the Presidency in 1928.
