30th President.  Typed letter signed (TLS) “Calvin Coolidge” AS VICE PRESIDENT, February 9, 1922, The Vice-President’s Chamber Washington stationery, to George Omwake of Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, in full:

I feel much honored that you should renew the cordial invitation extended to me to speak at Ursinus College, and I greatly regret that I cannot give you a favorable reply.  As a graduate of one of the smaller colleges, I take a particular interest in these institutions and should like to have the opportunity of visiting Ursinus.  I have, however, already accepted more speaking engagements than I should, and with the pressure of public business I find it an impossibility to add any others during the coming months.  I am sorry that this should be so, but I feel you will understand the circumstances.

Mailing fold, else fine.

RARE letter a VP.
