Product Description

National College Baseball Hall of Fame member, former Major League pitcher.  Offered here is an “Official Ball NCAA Championship” game used baseball (presumably the final out ball) from the first NCAA college victory for Alex Fernandez.  He contemporaneously inscribed the ball:  “First Victory as a college pitcher for the University of Miami.  Shutout 9 k’s” and signed it “Alex Fernandez 30”.

Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity with printed signature of Fernandez.  The baseball is fresh to the market and originates directly from the personal collection of Alex Fernandez.

According to his University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame biography, “As a true freshman in 1989, Fernandez would make an impact immediately as he and his teammates shutout Central Florida in his first start.”

In 1989, Fernandez was named the Collegiate Baseball Freshman Pitcher of the Year, a First Team All-American by Baseball America and was a Golden Spikes finalist as a member of the University of Miami baseball team.  Alex then took his talents to Miami-Dade Junior College, where in 1990 he would win both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy as the nation’s outstanding player en route to being the 4th pick overall by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
