Esteemed American politician and orator (1782–1852) who was a longtime member of Congress and who served as secretary of state under Harrison and Tyler.

Hand-addressed free-franked mailing envelope, 2.5×4.5, addressed by Webster to “Peter Harvey Esq. / Boston” and franked in the upper right, “Dan’l Webster / U.S. Senate”.

Peter Harvey (1798-1877) was a friend and biographer of Daniel Webster.

With the circular “Free…Washington D.C.” stamp.  Remnants of wax seal on verso.
