34th President, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day.  Typed letter signed (TLS) “Dwight,” one page, 7x9.25, personal "DDE" letterhead, November 3, 1961. Letter to his brother’s widow, in part: “I am certain that November eleventh will be a particularly difficult day for you because it is Arthur’s birthday, and I am gratified you are nonetheless willing to participate in the Rededication Ceremonies of the Liberty Memorial. Tom Stephens…will work out with you the best compromise that is possible within the limits of the time I have to meet your requests.”  Presented double matted and framed to an overall size of 12.5 x 15.5
