Presented here is a bank check from the 1850s, signed by Samuel Remington (1819-1892), who along with his father and two brothers developed the Remington Arms Co. The checks, dated between 1851 and 1855, all measure approximately 2.5x7 and are each drawn on the Ilion Bank of New York. The documents are all signed "S. Remington" ("8-9") and average EX condition with mild soiling as well as standard bank markings and cancellations.

A major industrialist during the 19th Century and an integral part of the development of the famous arms company, Samuel Remington's primary job was to secure government contracts for the family business. He later acted as the arms purchasing agent for France during the Franco-Prussian War.
