Dwight D. Eisenhower Typed Letter Signed as President - Importance of Sports
34th President. Great content typed letter signed (TLS) "Dwight D. Eisenhower" AS PRESIDENT, June 29, 1955, 7x105, White House letterhead, in full:
You undoubtedly know of the increasing concern that too many of our young people are spectators rather than active participants in athletic events. It has been suggested to me that, at an informal luncheon meeting of representatives of the sports world, ways might be developed to counteract this trend and to induce young people to participate more actively in athletic sports. Thereby the physical fitness of our American people would be improved and juvenile delinquency reduced.
Would it be possible for you to attend such a luncheon that I am planning for Monday, July eleventh, at half past twelve, at the White House?
Great content letter, its sentiment holds true even to this day.
